I know the way you can get When you have not had a drink of Love: Your face hardens, Your sweet muscles cramp. Children become concerned About a strange look that appears in your eyes Which even begins to worry your own mirror And nose. Squirrels and birds sense your sadness And call an important conference in a tall tree. They decide which secret code to chant To help your mind and soul. Even angels fear that brand of madness That arrays itself against the world And throws sharp stones and spears into The innocent And into one's self. O I know the way you can get If you have not been drinking Love: You might rip apart Every sentence your friends and teachers say, Looking for hidden clauses. You might weigh every word on a scale Like a dead fish. You might pull out a ruler to measure From every angle in your darkness The beautiful dimensions of a heart you once Trusted. I know the way you can get If you have not had a drink from Love's Ha

Imam Ali (as) said: Knowledge is better than Wealth because of 7 Reasons: 1. Knowledge is inheritence of Prophets while wealth is inheritence of Firauns. 2. Knowlege Does not Diminish (rather increases) with spending, while 3. Wealth requires to be protected, while knowledge protects its owner. 4. Knowledge will enter the Shroud while wealth will be prevented from doing so. 5. Wealth reaches both believers and unbelievers, wealth diminishes with spending. while knowledge is reserved only for those who are worthy of it. 6. Knowledge will facilitate passing over the Seraat while wealth will pore hurdles. 7. People are always in need of scholars while they might not be in need of those possessing wealth...

There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled. There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled. You feel it, don’t you? You feel the separation from the Beloved. Invite Him to fill you up, embrace the fire. Remind those who tell you otherwise, that Love .. comes to you of its own accord, and the yearning for it cannot be learned in any school... Hazrat Jalal Udin Rumi ra

O nightingale-- Learn love's way from the moth. That burnt one passed away, but didn't utter a sound. These pretenders are deluded in seeking him. Those who came to know the Friend never sent back any news... Sheikh Sa'di ra

Fight against your ego with the four swords of training: eat little, sleep little, speak little, and be patient when people harm you… Then the ego will walk the paths of obedience, like a fleeing horseman in the field of battle... Yahya ibn Mu‘adh al-Razi

I will recognize them by their book of deeds in their right hands; I will recognize them from their shining faces due to the prostration marks on their foreheads; and I will recognize them by a light [light of Iman] running in front of them... The Prophet [PBUH] when asked how he will recognize his Ummah among all other Ummahs on the Day of Resurrection

Along the road, you were my companion Seeking the path, you were my guide No matter to whom I spoke, it was you who answered When Sun called Moon to Sky, it was you who shined In the Night of aloneness, you were my comforter When I laughed, you were the smile on my lips When I cried, you were the tears on my face When I wrote, you were the verse When I sang, you were the song Rarely did my heart desire another lover Then when it did, you came to me in the other... The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “O God, grant me life as a poor man, cause me to die as a poor man and resurrect me in the company of the poor..” His wife asked him why he said that, and he replied: “Because (the poor) will enter Paradise (before) the rich. Do not turn away a poor man…even if all you can give is half a date. If you love the poor and bring them near you..God will bring you near Him on the Day of Ressurrection.” Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 1376. You can never attain virtue until you spend in Allah's cause the things you love; and Allah is Aware of whatever you spend... The Qur’an, Chapter 3, verse 92.

Such beauty has come to us That all the world is lit by its splendor tonight We do not need the light of candles or of the moon Or of the evening star tonight I will not welcome the dawn For a gentle friend has come tonight Nothing can come between us For we are sheltered by the darkness tonight Let the musicians play their songs of love And of praise tonight... Hazrat Farid uddin Attar ra

Hazrat Nizamuddin Awliya ra made it clear that it is spiritual proximity that counts and not physical nearness. He observed that if you, as a murid, refrained from being frequently present in the company of your pir, but remembered him with love and concern, that was much better than your being regularly present before the pir, having no knowledge of what the love for your pir really meant. | Then he recited: Birun ze-darun beh keh daruni birun To be outside is better than being an outsider who is inside...

Take one of my tears, Throw it into the ocean And watch the salt in the wounds Of this earth and men begin to disappear. Take one of my tears And cradle it in your palm. Mount a great white camel And carry my love into every desert, Paying homage to every Prophet Who has ever walked in our world. O take one of my tears And stop weeping only for sadness, For there is so much More to this life Than you now understand. Take one of my tears And become like the Happy One, O like the Happy One -- Who now lives Forever Within me. When a drop from my Emerald Sea Touches your soul's mouth, It will dissolve everything but your Joy And an Eternal Wonder. Then, The Beloved will gladly hire you As His minstrel To go traveling about this world, Letting everyone upon this earth Hear The Beautiful Names of God Resound in a thousand chords! Hafiz himself is singing tonight In Resplendent Glory, For the cup in my heart Has revealed the Beloved's Face

Hazrat Abu-d-Dardaa’ ra once said: “If only you knew what you will certainly see upon your death, you would never again eat a single bite out of a craving appetite, and you would never again drink an extra sip of water for the pleasure of unquenchable and insatiable thirst. Hence, you will remain outdoor in perpetuity, bewildered and awaiting the unexpected, and you will never again seek comfort in a shelter or seek a shade. You will wander aimlessly and climb the hilltops of every mountain, you will look up towards the heavens and beseech your Lord for mercy, and you will beat on your chest and cry endlessly, and you will wish that you were a little vegetable – a plant which is protected to grow, and then plucked to be eaten by a hungry person passing along.”

Sayings of Hazrat Imam Hussain ra Thinking of war is spine-chilling and its taste is extremely unpleasant. A true warrior is one who steps into the scene of war, fully armed, with no fear of the enemy. Whoever starts fighting at an inappropriate time , or when he is not fully equipped and prepared , or without having made plans about it , he will not be helpful for his people and he will die in vain... Hazrat Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb ra said: I am not worried about whether my du’a will be responded to, but rather I am worried about whether I will be able to make du’a or not. So if I have been guided (by Allah) to make du’a, then (I know) that the response will come with it...

Love seems easy in a circle of friends, But it's difficult, difficult. Morning air through the window, the taste of it, with every moment camel bells leaving the caravanserai. This is how we wake, with winespills On the prayer rug, and even the tavernmaster is loading up. My life has gone From willfullness to disrepute, And I won't conceal, either, the joy That led me out toward laughter. Mountainous ocean, a moon hidden behind clouds, The terror of being drawn under. How can someone with a light shoulder-pack Walking the beach know how a night sea-journey is? Hafiz! Stay in the dangerous life that's yours. THERE you'll meet the face That dissolves fear... Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) said: If you never felt pain or experienced problems, how would you know I’m the Healer? If you never made a mistake, how would you know I’m the Forgiver? If you were never hurt, how would you know I am the Comforter? If your life was perfect, then why would you need Me? Hadith Qudsi

I'm tangled, like the curls of my love's hair; Like a snake encharmed, I turn and twist. What is this knot, this dizzy maze, this snare? All I know: if I'm not tangled here, I don't exist... Hazrat Jalal Udin Rumi ra

If I rub my face on the ground, My new moon would rise in the skies, Winter and summer become spring. To me all days are holidays. Let no cloud cast a tall shadow On the gleaming light of my moon Whose fullness must never grow dim: From earth to sky its glimmer sprays. From the heart's solitary cell Its glitter drives out the darkness. How could that gloom be squeezed into The same cell with the piercing rays? I see my moon right here on earth, What would I do with all the skies? Rains of mercy pour down on me From this ground where I fix my gaze. What if Yunus is a lover Many are the lovers of God. Yunus, too, bows his head, because The lovers of God are ablaze... Yunus Emre

Hazrat ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab ra said: “Do not go to extremes with regard to the dowries of women, for if that were a sign of honour and dignity in this world or a sign of piety before Allaah, then Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would have done that before you. But he did not give any of his wives, and none of his daughters were given, more than twelve uqiyah. A man may increase the dowry until he feels resentment against her and says,‘You cost me everything I own, and caused me a great deal of hardship’.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah, 1532.

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying that: Allah the Exalted and Glorious, said: I have prepared for My pious servants which no eye has ever seen, and no ear has ever heard, and no human heart has ever perceived but it is testified by the Book of Allah. He then recited: “No soul knows what comfort has been concealed from them, as a reward for what they did”...(32: 17) Hadith Muttafaqun ‘Alaih (Agreed upon it by Albukhari & Muslim)
